Event Calendar~
The Grape Easel painting parties:
Thursday night open art parties are from 6-8:00pm; however, with photo and cleaning up time please allow 2 1/2 hours. Participants must register your interest in attending by the day before. There is a 5 student minimum in order to conduct class. Call before 1:00 the day of if there is a conflict because it affects others. If there is a cancellation, we will call/email each person registered. The cost is $31.50 per person (includes EVERYTHING- canvas, paint, tools & instruction- You just show up!) This is NOT a painting class! It is very relaxed & informal. The point is to have fun & allow yourself the option to get as creative as you want. NO SKILL IS REQUIRED, really!
The image shown is just a suggested option, you are welcome to paint anything you wish, we will still help!
Private parties open to any evening (except Tuesday or Thursday when there are art partys or workshops), even Sunday or Monday afternoon!
Book at least 2 weeks in advance to insure choice dates to choose from
* if you have the desire for a custom type of canvas grouping, other materials included or a subject matter research and layout prior to the evening party, there will be an extra cost added (call for details). Details must be discussed at least one week before attending to ensure good organization of your desired project.
*Pre-registration is required, 276-644-1428 or info@blowfishemporium.com. Minimum of 5 people or event is cancelled.

Each offering will highlight a new and fun project that really gets the participants involved and the creative juices flowing!

Have you always wanted to customize your shoes??? Well, here is your chance. Signi up and pay $55 and we will order your Tom shoes for you to paint here at The Grape Easel studio. You can order white, cream or black and then paint whatever image you desire. We do offer painting ideas, but it is up to you to paint your shoes!
We will have the workshop on March 24th, 1-4pm
following are a few ideas, we do not teach how to paint,
just offer the material for you to paint the design of your choice...
The two new sessions for 2012 are to help us with our vision . Yes we all see, but really...how well? We seldom have time to look at and think about everything that is out there that is around us. These two will help set us on our way.
Looking, thinking, then drawing. Talking about it also helps- sometimes our brain is open to what we are looking at, but it is hearing the kids in the other room and smelling dinner burning and realizing the clock said it's later than you think. All this takes away from your seeing. Focusing is a wondrous thing that happens. Often when painting someone will yell out - "This is great ,for two hours I have not thought about my problems!" or "I never can sit still this long" or "I never thought I would have time for this.... but it is like it makes time!"
This and many discoveries are made when focusing in on something- it makes all else disappear- and boy don't we all need a bit of that! Really, the basic thing is that it will assist you in making better paintings, relating to space- it can help your writing, your dreams and yes, even your cooking. It's a ZEN thing. So, STEP UP to this next challenge and trust that you will open some doors in your complicated brain and heart and be the better for it in whatever you are doing. One of my favorite things I have read about drawing was noted by a psychologist in the late 1800's when working with a child about to draw. He was just sitting there and the Dr. said, "why aren't you drawing" the child said, "First, I think and then I draw my think". Even though I love to put thinking out of my personal painting and work improvisationally - I still love this. Years of thinking, focusing and learning technique is like learning a language - it helps you understand and communicate - but then there is applying it thru living it. AH, Improv- imagination then takes flight.
I'm looking forward to this and some future explorations following this in some bigger paintings! Happy New Year! Pat Jessee

Supplies will be available for purchase any night. Working in soft pencil, drawing paper, graphite sticks and eraser .
